The spirit of the dead is alive!
Approximate translation of the review
A force to invoke the dead, SPIRITUS MORTIS Finns have so far attracted about them the "scoumoune" the most tenacious. Despite two albums lectures in a muscular style heavy -doom clear line (Spiritus Mortis 2003 Fallen 2006), this group formed in 1987 has never harvested a great success but very poor esteem. Their two previous labels (Rage of Achilles and Black Lotus) have drunk the cup - sorry, the cup - and their beautiful singer Vesa LAMPI set sail. Fortunately, luck could run with the signature on Firebox and the arrival in the song of Sami HYNNINEN, which is just Sir Albert Witchfinder, a former singer and bassist fundamentals REVEREND BIZARRE. Excuse the little!
The God Behind The God does not depart too short discography of the group remains the key word that we prefer: heavy. SPIRITUS MORTIS is not a group of strict doom. Of course, the songs long, cumbersome, tortuous, as vicious and depressive Death Bride (nearly eight minutes) Curved Horizon (8'30) and above The God Behind The God (almost twelve minutes) found the best combo in the spheres of its kind in fairly traditional vein. The way in particular that always put its Sir Albert songs can sometimes declamatory surprise but ultimately reinforces the unhealthy aspect of these crazy and doomtimes. More trivial but extremely effective (or even second degree as to words), securities as more concise The Man of Steel, Perpetual Motion or Heavy Drinker to doomsters show that with practice the art of brilliant coup de boule. It should be noted with pleasure the guitars often inspired by NWOBHM and propelled by a rhythm section charpentée and very powerful.
With such success, must now be SPIRITUS MORTIS to survey the roads to preach the gospel black.
