Approximate translation of the review
FLYING COLORS, new a " supergroupe" , with l' image of TRANSATLANTIC ? Considering the casting, we can reasonably be affirmative. Celebrated and estimated in the bubbling higher realms of the Métal or Rock Progressif, the Hard Rock, the 5 musicians of this " projet" nameSteve MORSE (guitar - founder of DIXIE DREGS, KANSAS, Steve MORSE BAND, DEEP PURPLE …),Neal MORSE(keyboards - ex- SPOCK'S BEARD, TRANSATLANTIC …),Mike PORTNOY(battery - ex-DREAM THEATER, ex- AVENGED SEVENFOLD, LTE, TRANSATLANTIC, ADRENALINE MOB …), Dave LARUE(low - DIXIE DREGS, PLANET X, Joe SATRIANI …). Casey MCPHERSON(can be the least known in this mediumMétal in general) is as for him the singer/type-setter of ALPHA REV(and ex- ENDOCHINE), American group evolving/moving in a currentRock Alternatif.

We can also be affirmative as for the quality of this first album éponyme, whose contents, 11 highly melody compositions, is strongly coloured and eclectic, associating styles going of the Jazz to the Rock Progressif, while passing by the Pop. The iridescent whole d' a key of Métal here or there.
Blue Oceanis madeJazzy on its intro, with this low which groove any sound " soul " , while sparing one Rock Progressifwith the atours of SPOCK'S BEARD . Shoulda Coulda Wouldas' in will address as tu oneHard Rock ( DEEP PURPLE ) with rhythmic thundering, leaving the keyboards in withdrawal somewhat. The voice makes me think here of that ofLenny WOLF( KINGDOM COME).Kayla is to be brought closer d' pop progressive, where the line of song of the refrain, hypermelodic, points out the three albums of duet WILSON / GEFFENof BLACKFIELD. A solo of guitar electrifies the final one of this splendid title. The Storm also attends one to himPop of quality. Forever In A Dazeis seen confined in a writing plus Rock Progressif . Love Is What I'm Waiting Forhas a small Beatlesien accent, leaving a course solo imagined the d' presence; one Bryan MAY. Then two ballades s' invite to the festival:Everything Changes , it also with the atours of the Beatlesand Better Than Walking Away, unroll softness and emotions. Contrasting with these 2 titles déboule then All Falls Down, title more " puissant" of l' album, where Mike coward his blows, making zigzag one DREAM THEATERin the d' medium; a composition that the new king of the Pop worldMUSE could very well have carried out (famous Black Holes & Revelationsof 2006 already!). RatherBluesy is Fool In My heart, Steve embaumant us with his play of guitar. Infinite Fire, the longest title of l' album with its 12 minutes, evokes the modern Progressive Rock'n'roll and certain melodies of SPOCK'S BEARD, elegantly punctuated of Yessiennes reminiscences, where a long instrumental beach (with sonorities of keyboards very 70' S) in its center leaves the guitars and the keyboards s' to roll up d' around; rhythmic purely progressive.

D' after the members of the group,FLYING COLORS should not remain the d' project; one day, the desire to continue l' venture thus seeming to us to be promised. This first polychrome album draws a picture enluminé " with flying colors" where each musician (painter?) excel in its role, having put all its technique and its charisma within l' company. Small personal aside, FLYING COLORS m' allowed to discover a singer (as his group ALPHA REV ) of big class whose vocal tessiture is impressive (same manner j' had discovered the Belgian singer Jasper STEVERLINCKof group ARID guest by Arjen LUCASSEN on l' one of these innumerable achievements,GUILT MACHINE (On This Perfect Day - 2009)).
FLYING COLORS : a fabric of Masters!
