Unclassable
Approximate translation of the review
To describe Acid Mist Tomorrow, second album of Montpelliérains ofHYPNO5E, does not have anything easy. The qualification of Metal experimental, though rather founded, passes almost for an euphemism. The group has an arsenal Heavy of most complete, between rhythmic crushing and a voice evolving/moving readily in extreme spheres, close to the Death Metal. Such characteristics are certainly not, alone, synonymous with originality, but I quickly realize to deal with unclassable group. The pieces thus regularly comprise a spoken song, Emmanuel JESSUA déclamant worms or quotations such as: “So that all is consumed, so that I, it feels less only remained me to wish qu' there are many spectators the day of my execution and qu' they m' accomodate with cries of hatred. ” (Albert Camus, Foreigner, included in Acid Mist Tomorrow). By this process, does not miss the musicians désarçonner the listener. Similar remarks in addition contribute to create a choking climate, that another extract of the text of archetypic the piece titrates (“I will not contradict felt that I had been happy, and that I was it still. ”). The intonation ofEmmanuel suggests the opposite precisely… The

experimental tendencies developed by HYPNO5E are also read in the titles of the beaches. The majority of those indeed constitute movements of a piece. There I find an approach spread in the Rock progressive: on Wish You Were Here (1975), PINK FLOYD divides for example its monumental Shine On You Crazy Diamond into two parts. This process facilitates the appearance of distinct environments. Thus, Six Fingers In One Hand She Holds The Dawn begin with delicate instrumental (Part 1) which predicts by no means continuation (Part 2), mainly Metal. Though sufficient to itself, Story Of The Eye presents a similar construction, succession of offensive passages and others more peaceful, in particular including melody parts of guitar and a song clearly neat.

Confirming the bringing together with the progressive currents, Acid Mist Tomorrow includes sometimes elements of psychedelism. Gehenne (Part 1), with the song murmured in Spanish, proposes an oneiric atmosphere. In the same way, it is advisable to greet arrangements of Story Of The Eye, where one intervenes tearing (and sublimates) part of violin. Here are which brings an additional proof of the richness of this album. To apprehend it fully, many listenings prove to be necessary, constituting as many stages of an enthralling voyage.

Line-up :

Emmanuel JESSUA : song, guitar
Jonathan MAUROIS : guitar
Cédric « Gredin » PAGES : low
Thibault LAMY : battery, percussions
