Approximate translation of the review
After its beginnings in 2011 (with the album In Witch Order), the American trio CASTLE discount the cover with Blacklands. One will note entry of game a taste for the intriguing illustrations. But this is well heard in the musical domain that one awaits the group for a finally difficult evaluation to carry out.

in fact, CASTLE perfected a formula at once comparatively personal and still too insufficient. Explanations. Epaisse, very powerful without free brutal being, the instrumentation principally rests on of the riffs dry ones leaned on lines of huge low, the inflexible battery but very volubile loading itself at once to hold the shack and to add colors. It is a matter of a typical architecture of the power trios of the end of the years 60. For as much, CASTLE does not ring as one of these innumerable combos take of a revival 60' s or 70’s. All just the riffs of Mat DAVIS they evoke the bitterness of the Metal at first of the years 80 and the rhythmic section would emerge without problem in the better formations of Stoner Rock. Cherry on the cake, the song bitterly is assured by the bass player Elizabeth BLACKWELL, in a register rather close of the growl of big cat.

from which comes then this persistent feeling of light fatigue that installs itself with the passing of the pieces? Maybe of a lack of variety in the sound, nevertheless powerfully implemented by Billy ANDERSON (HIGH ON FIRE, CATHEDRAL, NEUROSIS, EYEHATEGOD, SLEEP and quantity of others). More surely, CASTLE would win to take pains with more its compositions, while digging arrangements, as well as to vary the interpretation, principally the song, (sometimes almost lifeless).

Hope a true good one surprised for the third album.
